With a qualified Master's degree, you can apply for a doctorate at the Department of Physics. On the one hand, it serves as a further academic qualification, but at the same time represents the first professional phase as an independent scientist. You can obtain further information on all questions relating to the doctorate from the professors in the department. Current research areas and research projects are briefly outlined on the respective homepages of the institutes and research groups. As a rule, you will work in one of the research projects, but external doctorates at cooperating research institutions are also possible.
Once you have found a supervisor for your doctorate, you must register as a doctoral candidate at the department. This requires the following steps:
1. fill out the form “Acceptance as a doctoral candidate" (see below) and bring it to the Dean's Office in person in paper form with all required attachments. An overview of the required documents can be found below.
2. register in the 51ÁÔÆæ doctoral candidate database. The registration instructions will help you with this.
Please note: Without registration in the database, you will not be accepted as a doctoral candidate.
