The following information only applies to students who started their studies in the winter semester 2022/2023 or later.

​Important Information on the Supervision of the Bachelor Thesis

The Master's thesis can only be supervised by a member of the Institute of Political Science who holds a doctorate.

At least one of the reviews must be written by a professor.

A review by a person from outside the subject area must be applied for and justified to the examination committee.

With the approval of the chairperson of the examination committee, the Master's thesis can also be written at an institution outside the Johann Wolfgang 51ÁÔÆæ. In this case, the topic must be set in consultation with a member of the professorial group of the responsible subject. The external supervisor can be approved by the examination board as a second examiner for the Master's thesis.

The following groups of persons are entitled to supervise a thesis in the MA Political Science:

  • Professors
  • Doctoral research assistants who have been commissioned to carry out teaching duties independently
  • Lecturers with a doctorate and lecturers for special tasks
  • Private lecturers with a doctorate
  • Associate professors
  • Honorary professors
  • Emeritus professors
