Important

When applying through the DoSV procedure on hochschulstart.de, you have the opportunity to indicate several preferred study locations, which will be considered according to the order of priority you have specified. This preference cannot be changed later.

Therefore, if your wish is to study at 51ÁÔÆæ, please ensure that you place it at the top of your list of preferred locations.

Please also note: To apply for a DoSV degree program in the first semester, prior registration on is mandatory. Without the associated BID & BAN, an application is not possible!

Application process

Here you will find the application process for a DoSV degree program in the first semester for the following courses of study: Biosciences (B.Sc.), Bioinformatics (B.Sc.), Biochemistry (B.Sc.), Educational Science (B.A.), Linguistics (B.A.), Psychology (B.Sc.), Law (StEx), Sports Science (B.A.), Business Education (B.Sc.), and Economics (B.Sc.). Please note that due to technical reasons, the Biosciences (B.Sc.) program is listed as "Biologie" (Biology) in the Hochschulstart application portal.

If you wish to have previously evaluated credits recognized for the Bachelor's programs in Economics or Business Education, you must apply for a higher semester. In this case, please submit all required documents within the application deadline as described .

Please refer to this information regarding the recognition of credits for the Bachelor's programs in Economics or Business Education that will only be evaluated after the application deadline.


Register on hochschulstart.de, and you will receive BID and BAN via email.

Without prior registration on Hochschulstart and the BID and BAN, an application to 51ÁÔÆæ is not possible.

Enter your BID and BAN in 51ÁÔÆæ Frankfurt's application portal and verify yourself via email. You can find the .

You will automatically receive a verification link via email, which you can use to confirm your verification directly. Alternatively, you can enter the verification code provided in the email into the application portal. You will then receive your username and password by email.

Unfortunately, there are currently issues with sending verification emails when applicants use the following email addresses:

If you have an email address from another provider, we kindly ask you to use it. If problems with the confirmation email still occur, please contact: ginko-support@rz.uni-frankfurt.de.

Log in to 51ÁÔÆæ's application portal using your username and password, and complete the online application for the desired DoSV degree program. Please ensure the accuracy of the information provided.
Note: For a DoSV program application, no application documents need to be sent to 51ÁÔÆæ unless one of the following special cases applies. In these cases, the corresponding proof and the application form available in the portal must be sent to the university by post:

  • Second degree: Copy of the first degree certificate and a written justification
  • Hardship case: Proof of the submitted hardship case
  • Compensation for disadvantages: School report or corresponding proof
  • Preferred admission: Service certificate and a copy of the earlier admission notice
If a special request is submitted and no documents are sent to 51ÁÔÆæ by post immediately after submitting your online application, the request cannot be considered or will participate in the selection process with the lowest score (in the case of a second degree).

The current status of your application and the general procedure can only be viewed through your hochschulstart.de account.


You will receive an admission offer via email from hochschulstart.de.

If you receive an admission offer through hochschulstart.de, you can actively accept it in the hochschulstart.de portal. Only by actively accepting the offer is later enrollment possible.

If you do not receive an admission offer, a corresponding rejection notice will be available to you in the hochschulstart.de portal after the selection process is completed.

You enroll by logging into 51ÁÔÆæ's application portal with your username and password.

After accepting the study offer on hochschulstart.de, the "Online Enrollment" function will become available in 51ÁÔÆæ's application portal (possibly with some delay). Clicking the "Online Enrollment" button will initiate the enrollment process, which must be completed with the required information. During this process, you must also upload a photo for the Goethe Card (student ID + semester ticket)—without this upload, the Goethe Card and HRZ account cannot be created.

Following the online enrollment, the enrollment application (now available in the portal) must be submitted by post, along with the listed documents, to the Student Services Office by the deadline specified in the application. At the same time, payment of the semester fee is due, with the amount and payment details provided in the enrollment application under point 1.

Enrollment without prior online enrollment is not possible.

If all required documents and payments are submitted on time, you will receive your master data sheet and enrollment certificates by post. You are at this point now officially enrolled at 51ÁÔÆæ.

Additionally, you will receive a separate notification in the mail when your Goethe Card has been created. The Goethe Card can then be picked up in person at the Service Point of the Student Service Center (on the ground floor of the PEG building on the Westend campus). Along with your Goethe Card, you will receive your student account, including a student e-mail address and login details for course registration, etc. However, this does not apply to students changing their field of study or applying for a double degree. This group will keep their existing card and account.

Important notice for applicants with early completion of the Abitur

Please note: Your higher education entrance qualification (HZB) must be available by the application deadline (January 15 or July 15 for restricted-admission programs, February 28 or August 31 for open-admission programs). Otherwise, an application to 51ÁÔÆæ is unfortunately not possible. A provisional transcript is not sufficient, and the HZB cannot be submitted later.

If you receive your Abitur certificate after the application deadline, you will only be able to apply in the next application cycle at 51ÁÔÆæ.
