We are pleased that you are interested to know how we live academics. Our understanding of science and studies is pluralistic. We emphasize a respectful behavior towards everybody within our team, with students and other university members, and with our international and national colleagues. We are especially oriented towards high methodological standards. An important goal of our activities is to contribute actively to a further internationalization of academics.
Our professorship focuses on methods in the social sciences. According to the Greek sense of the word, the term methods refers to "ways". Ways can be very different: Sometimes you choose a different path than the one you are used to, sometimes you take a detour, and sometimes you stand at a fork in the road. And so our website would like to show you which paths we take at the professorship:
Our research is primarily devoted to methodological topics such as Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) and comparative case studies, but we also work substantively on protest movements, interest groups, Italy, and issues of democracy and autocracy.
Our publications include peer-reviewed articles as well as monographs and textbooks and handbooks.
Our teaching is aimed at bachelor's and master's students in political science and sociology, with a special emphasis on basic training in methods.
Our team is composed of people with different (university) biographies and is characterized by mutual respect and good cooperation.
