If you are planning to stay in Germany for more than three months, you must comply with the Registration Act and register with the Citizens' Office (µþü°ù²µ±ð°ù²¹³¾³Ù) of the city of your residence within two weeks of moving into your accommodation in Germany. International academics, scientists and researchers are also required to register. The registration and is free of charge. The following documents are required to register:
With the city of Frankfurt you have to online before visiting the µþü°ù²µ±ð°ù²¹³¾³Ù (link available in German only). On Mondays and Wednesdays you can go without appointment.
At the µþü°ù²µ±ð°ù²¹³¾³Ù you will receive a registration certificate which you will need, among others, when applying for a residence permit or opening a bank account. Please make sure that your name is well visible on your mailbox because subsequently a letter containing your German tax number will be sent to you by mail.
Please note: if you move to another accommodation during your stay, you have to re-register with the local µþü°ù²µ±ð°ù²¹³¾³Ù responsible for your new place of residence, i.e. you have to register your new address. When leaving Germany, you have to de-register at the µþü°ù²µ±ð°ù²¹³¾³Ù.
