Registration
If you are planning to stay in Germany for more than three months, you must comply with the Registration Act and register with the Citizens' Office (叠眉谤驳别谤补尘迟) of the city of your residence within two weeks of moving into your accommodation in Germany. International academics, scientists and researchers are also required to register. The registration and is free of charge. The following documents are required to register:
- Lessor麓s confirmation/奥辞丑苍耻苍驳蝉驳别产别谤产别蝉迟盲迟颈驳耻苍驳 (please find download on the right side of this page);
- Proof of identity for all persons registering (ID card or passport);
- If you arrive with your spouse: marriage certificate (original + certified translation)
- If you have children coming with you: birth certificates (original + certified translation)
With the city of Frankfurt you have to online before visiting the 叠眉谤驳别谤补尘迟 (link available in German only). On Mondays and Wednesdays you can go without appointment.
At the 叠眉谤驳别谤补尘迟 you will receive a registration certificate which you will need, among others, when applying for a residence permit or opening a bank account. Please make sure that your name is well visible on your mailbox because subsequently a letter containing your German tax number will be sent to you by mail.
Please note: if you move to another accommodation during your stay, you have to re-register with the local 叠眉谤驳别谤补尘迟 responsible for your new place of residence, i.e. you have to register your new address. When leaving Germany, you have to de-register at the 叠眉谤驳别谤补尘迟.
