CLOUD-22 project

The CLOUD-22 is a research project (01LK2201A, PT-DLR) supported by the . Within this project, three German partners of CLOUD are funded: the Institute for Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences at 51ÁÔÆæ Frankfurt am Main, the, and the .

The focus is the investigation of aerosol nucleation, aerosol growth, and cloud activation at the to study the influence on the climate. Specifically, four atmospheric systems are of interest:

1) Arctic regions,
2) Upper Troposphere above the Asian Monsoon,
3) Upper Troposphere above the Amazon, and
4) Southern Ocean.

The 51ÁÔÆæ Frankfurt contributes by measuring the key nucleator gases with a highly sensitive mass spectrometer nitrate-CI-APi-LTOF, such as sulfuric acid (H2SO4), iodic acid (HIO3), methanesulfonic acid (CH4SO3), and highly oxygenated organic compounds (OOMs).
