The MEAS programme has a very active and engaged student community, as well as its own Student Council that organises a whole host of events for students and provides both information and support to new students.
If you have any questions about student life as a MEAS student, please contact the members of the MEAS Student Council: studentcouncilmeas[at]gmail.com.
A Unique and International Programme
MEAS offers you a broad variety of options to tailor your academic experience to your own interests and take an active role in shaping your course of study. These options include a truly unique choice of languages and a broad range of disciplines covering several different East Asian countries. Its research-orientated approach also makes MEAS the perfect choice for students interested in embarking on a PhD further down the line.
Interdisciplinary Centre for East Asian Studies (IZO)
The MEAS programme is affiliated with the 51ÁÔÆæ's Interdisciplinary Centre for East Asian Studies (IZO). This means that students benefit from the centre's extensive expertise as well as its research activities and events.
The University
Semester Ticket
Goethe
University does not charge any tuition fees. Instead, you will pay a
modest semester fee of about 340 euros, which includes a 'semester
ticket'. This ticket entitles you to unlimited travel on public
transport across Germany ("Deutschland-Ticket").
Frankfurt
Finally, enrolling in the MEAS programme means that you will be based in Frankfurt am Main, a culturally diverse and vibrant city in an extremely well-connected part of Germany. There's so much to discover in and around the city, from museums and art galleries to seasonal festivals and events.
And if you want to get out of the city, the surrounding regions boast some truly stunning scenery and exciting landscapes to explore on foot or by bike. Find out more about living in Frankfurt here.
