The group studies the properties of the strong interactions under extreme conditions such as those found in the early universe or within compact stars. One goal in particular is the determination of the QCD phase diagram. The group works with non-perturbative methods of quantum field theory, in particular analytic and numerical evaluations of lattice QCD.
