Committees of Faculty 05

Faculty 05 has a number of committees responsible, for example, for examination procedures, the evaluation of study programmes or the monitoring of ethical standards in research. Following you will find an overview of the various committees in the faculty. For further information, e.g. on the respective contact persons, please visit the German page.

Faculty Council

The Faculty Council meets three times per semester during the lecture periods. The tasks of the Faculty Council include dealing with study and examination regulations, including (re)accreditation procedures, coordinating research projects and discussing strategy and development plans. Furthermore, the Faculty Council decides on the advertisement of professorships and decides on the appointment proposal of the appointment committee. The Faculty Council also decides on the awarding of habilitation procedures. The lectures of the habilitation colloquia take place in public.

Ethics Committee

The Ethics Committee has the task of examining the ethical aspects of planned psychological and sports science research projects, insofar as these do not fall within the remit of a medical ethics committee (e.g. Department 16). The latter is the case if they primarily pursue medical issues (e.g. in the sense of the German Medicinal Products Act or the Medical Devices Act) or if the physical integrity of humans or animals is violated, e.g. through the administration of medication, injury to the skin or exposure to radiation.

The ethics committee advises the members of the department on questions of research ethics and issues an opinion if necessary. The ethical responsibility of the responsible researcher remains unaffected.

Submissions should be addressed to the head of the Ethics Committee.

Examination Boards

The examination boards and the examination offices are responsible for the organisation of examinations. They ensure compliance with the regulations for the study programme. The examination boards decide on all examination matters that are not assigned to another body or committee or to the chairperson of the respective examination board by regulations or statutes.

Doctoral Committees

The doctoral committees are responsible for administering doctoral degree programmes. This includes, for example, acceptance as a doctoral candidate, the opening of examination procedures and the official appointment of the doctoral committee. Other tasks of the examination committees include determining the admission requirements for doctoral candidates from other disciplines, organising additional studies and examinations as well as various recommendations on the design of the dissertation.

Study Commissions

The study commissions have the task of developing recommendations for the further development of the study programme. These recommendations are submitted to the Faculty Council. Furthermore, the study commissions have the task of reviewing and developing the range of courses offered, the study counselling for prospective and current students and the supervision offered in the study programmes.

"Offenes Forum Psychologie" and "Offenes Forum Sportwissenschaften"

The "Offenes Forum Psychologie" and the "Offenes Forum Sportwissenschaften" take place three times per semester before the Faculty Council meetings and serve to prepare and discuss topics relevant to the respective institute.
All members of the Institute of Psychology or the Institute of Sports Science are invited to attend the meetings, to introduce topics and to join in the discussions. No resolutions are passed in the forums, but opinions are collected and recommendations formulated for the Faculty Council. The forums serve to exchange ideas and form opinions.
