International Laboratory Visits Scholarship

The International Lab Visit Scholarship Program offers scholarships for advanced master students of high academic standing. Scholarships are granted for laboratory internships abroad eg. reseach internships abroad.

  • For advanced master students with high academic standing (Ø 2,0 max.)
  • Self-oganized laboratory internships & research internships  
  • Only internships outside of Germany with a minimum period of 2 months 
  • 2 to 6 months funding

Parallel funding with DAAD PROMOS & ERASMUS+ Internship scholarship is excluded.

Scholarships include monthly rates and a one-time travel expenses rate: 

  • The amount of the scholarship depends on the target country.
  • They range from 350€ to 550€ per month and from 325€ to 3.000€ for travel expenses.

Two step application process

STEP 1 

  • Check the website for application requirements and deadlines
  • Get nominated for the International Lab Visits-scholarship by a study program supervisor at 51ÁÔÆæ .
  • He/She needs to confirm your nomination by using the template and sending it via email to the International Lab Visits-team.
    Only if we get your nomination, you will be able to apply for International Lab Visits. The nomination serves as a first consultation. 

STEP 2

  • Sign up with the Mobility Online Application Platform of 51ÁÔÆæ. 
  • Follow the instructions provided by emails Mobility Online sends you and the information given in your workflow.
  • Prepare your documents as indicated below and upload them on the application platform Mobility Online.

    Applications are only possible/ complete if a nomination has been submitted by the deadline.

 Important Notes

  • Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Admissions and scholarship confirmations will be sent within 4-6 weeks
  • Please consider carefully if you will be able to finance your stay. 

You are eligibile for application, if the following criteria apply:

  • Nomination by a study program supervisor at GU (find out more )
  • Good to very good academic standing
  • Strong research interest matching the selected research project
  • Proof of previous research experience and/or relevant extracurricular activities
As stipulated in the scholarship agreement, the International Lab Visits scholarship includes final documents. These must be submitted after the end of the mobility - no later than eight weeks after returning to Germany. If the deadline is not met, the full scholarship can be reclaimed. You will be reminded by e-mail to submit the final documents by the deadline.

The final documents consist of:

1. the Participation Certificate, with which the host institution in the destination country confirms the actual period of stay. This should be uploaded to your application account as soon as possible after the end of your mobility. 

  • If the period of stay has been shortened compared to the original information, we may have to demand a partial repayment of the scholarship. 
  • You are obliged to report any changes to the period of stay to the Global Office without being asked.

2. the experience report, in which you report on your experiences abroad based on our template. The aim is for your experience report to help other students plan and carry out a stay abroad. Please use the template for this purpose.
